- Wow, it's been a whole month since I last wrote anything here. My new book is out and as you can imagine, I've had some places to be and people to see.
- On January 29, 2005, I along with three other Alabama authors met with some young aspiring authors in Birmingham. It was sponsored by the AKA Sorority (Omicron Omega Chapter). It was great taking part in that! Go Young Authors!
- I visited with the wonderful folks at Smithfield Library in Birmingham, Alabama February 2, 2005. A special thanks to Reba Williams for extending the invitation and making me feel so welcomed. Also to Yolanda Hardy and the rest of the staff! There were several other librarians who came out and supported, which I think is so nice. Supporting one another, that's what I'm talking about. Not a lot of that going around these days, so it's great to be able to acknowledge it when you see it.
- Then Saturday, February 5, 2005, I was off to the PG Sports & Learning Complex in Lanham, Maryland celebrating the Heaven 1580 AM Book Fair. Some wonderful people heard I was in town and stopped by (Angela Moore, thanks for everything, Marie, Jim, Mark, okay, let me stop before I get in trouble).
- There was one person who came to get her book when she heard I was going to be in town. She'd had a car accident and was in a rental car which was the only reason she knew I would be there. You see, her car doesn't pick up the AM station and had it not been for her having had an accident, she wouldn't have been in a rental car, and she wouldn't have known I was going to be in town. Now you tell me when someone tells you something like that, that it doesn't make you feel extremely blessed to be able to do what you do. During those rare times when I might be feeling down, I think of all the special folks I meet in my life, and I can't help but thank God for His blessings!
- I spoke at Lawson State Community February 16, 2005. Thanks to Ms. Henderson for rolling out the carpet for me and the students were delightful. Especially one young man who really touched my heart (Joseph) when during Q&A he let me know that "my labor is not in vain." I don't just speak to hear myself talking. And when I can say something that touches a heart and makes a difference in their life, then I'm feeling good about my own calling.
- I visited with the readers of a book club who met at Trinity AME Zion in Ensley, Alabama on February 19, 2005. Thanks Joy for the invite. I had a wonderful time with many who had read my book(s) and those who came to get their book(s) autographed but hadn't begun reading yet. There were several men in the group which really makes an author feel great especially if your work is not an "action thriller" so to speak. Although, there is quite a bit of action going on in PROMISES BEYOND JORDAN and WINGS OF GRACE as well as some thrilling moments. I have one more roll of film to develop from this event, so check back later to see any additional photos to this book club meeting.
- Until next time...

- Happy New Year!
- Okay, so I'm a little late with my greetings, but I figured I'd come along after everyone has finished. You know how it is, sometimes you need a pick-me-up during times when it's not on the calendar to get it. It's been an interesting year for me so far. My new book is out. It's called Wings of Grace (as though you don't know it if you've gotten this far on my Web site). This is a book I really wanted to write and I enjoyed it so much. It took a lot of upfront research and work, but I'm pleased with the outcome (no, we will not talk about my vision of women dancing on the cover with shiffon that resemble wings). So far Wings of Grace has received a Reviewer's Choice Award from Road to Romance (www.RoadtoRomance.ca). They wrote a really nice review on Wings of Grace as well so check it out. Back in December, I did a radio interview with Bill Thompson of www.Eyeon Books.com and the audio interview is online. So if you haven't listened to it yet, go over and lend it your ears. Romantic Times Magazine gave my book a 4 1/2-star rating (it's in February's magazine and will be online soon. I'll put a link to it when it's available online). RAWSISTAZ.com gave it a 5-star rating. If you have access, there's a wonderful article about me and the book in The Birmingham Times (February 3, 2005 edition) Religion section, so pick up a copy! And Booklist (mainly libraries get this publication) called it a "well written narrative."
- I've been doing several interviews, many that will be posted online in the coming days and weeks. Some of them have been in print, like newspapers and magazines. And I did a radio interview (actually two) with the fine people of Heaven 1580 AM covering Maryland/D.C. In fact, I was in Maryland this past Saturday for a book fair which was sponsored by Heaven 1580 AM along with BET Books at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex. Thanks to ALL those who came out, especially those who came because you heard I would be there. And I mean there were a lot of you and I appreciate it more than you'll ever know. That comes deep from my heart! To the new people who had never heard of me before that event and purchased my book(s), thank you as well. That's one of the perks of my job: I get to meet the neatest (some of you anyway), nicest folks. Now you KNOW that's a blessing! I must say though, my flight left at 5:30 a.m. (not I had to get up at 5:30 a.m., I'm talking about the plane was taxing down the runway at 5:30 a.m.). I came straight to the complex when my plane landed at 10:20 a.m. (that's technically 9:20 a.m. my time, but that's still 4 hours). My flight back home left at 8:05 p.m. that night. Now you KNOW I have to have some mad love for what I do! But it's so worth it to get to meet people who have read, are reading, will be reading work that I have poured my heart into. And some of you are funny when you share your stories about reading what I wrote. Okay, I won't go there. Now, anyway.
- I was at Smithfield Library in Birmingham, Alabama last Wednesday. I truly enjoyed that. Thanks Reba Williams and Yolanda Hardy for the love and the invitation to grace the place. I'll have photos up soon (or later) of all the events I've been to recently including a young authors workshop sponored by the Omicron chapter of AKAs in Birmingham. So be sure to check back.
- Okay, let me wrap this up before you guys think I write enough to write a book (hey, I can do that, can't I?!). The last thing I'd like to share with you here is that the audio rights have been purchased for Wings of Grace. I'll keep you posted on that development! But that's a blessing. For all who are trying to get copies of Promises Beyond Jordan and finding it out of stock (including at Amazon.com right now), I'm sure it will be back in stock soon. There is a wonderful word in the publishing business called "going back to reprint", so thanks to everyone for spreading the word about my books. If you'll buy it, they will keep printing it!
- Live in Faith and continue to walk in God's Grace! Until next time...
